Privacy Policy

We really appreciate you visiting our site! This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and secure information received through the site.

Diagnostic and Analytic Information:

We may collect certain diagnostic and analytic information about you when you visit this site, including device data, browser type, timezone data, IP addresses, referring sites, and the date and time of each request. This information helps us serve you the website, and understand how people use the site.

Personal Information:

We only collect personal information you voluntarily provide through the “Call Congress” feature, the “Share Your Story” feature, or email.

If you use our “Call Congress” feature, we ask you for your address. Address information gathered via this feature is used to look up who your representative is, serve you a customized script, and then is discarded. We do not retain this information.

We keep a count of the total number of people who have generated a script for each Congressperson through the "Call Congress" feature. This count is associated with the time the script is generated and an anonymized IP address with the final two segments (octets) removed so it cannot be linked to any individual. This count is not tied to the address inputted or any of the diagnostic data discussed above.

If you use our “Share Your Story” feature, we ask for your name, email address and other information. You are not required to provide us with any of this information in order to submit a story. We will not use stories gathered through the form for purposes other than those explicitly consented to by submitters.

The “Share Your Story” form is hosted by Google, and data collected through it is stored in a Google spreadsheet. Submissions may be subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

If you email us, we may collect your email address, name or other information you choose to give us.

We take all reasonable measures to secure personal information you provide to us and to limit access to only people affiliated with this project who need access to it.

Disclosure and Transfer of Personal Information:

We may disclose personal information collected through this site only in these limited circumstances:

  • With third parties who help us publish the Immigrant Doctors Project and provide our services,
  • With your consent, and
  • As required by law.

If we’re required by law to disclose personal information you have given us, our policy is to give you advance notice unless we’re prohibited by law from doing so.
